Yeah, that does look nice. Have no idea how you got it done for that price. Looks as if it would run closer to 3k, but good job. The reason I might be hesitant to do the same, assuming I could get it done for under 2k, would be due to warranty issues. I have a 100,000 mile service warranty and this modification looks to be the perfect excuse for the Dealer to void it. But it sure looks nicer than having the gps unit come off the windshield or on a passenger side mount

You can do what I actually did, as my car did not come with the navigation and I did not want to spends thousands of dollars to install it. I custom fabricated a dash that replaces the factory center console. This eliminates the factory radio, I installed an aftermarket Kenwood Double Din indash with Navigation. Which sounds ten times better than the factory radio. as it has a much much better crossover.

The only problem is that the factory radio has to remain plugged in or the I-drive will not work, the factory screen wont turn on, and you can't control anything from the I-drive (ex. Climate). So i had to have the factory radio remain plugged in and reloccated it to underneath the steering colum (Very Very tight fit) and you also loose the steering wheel control and the control of the radio with the i drive as you are no longer using the factory radio but instead the aftermarket.

In addition you can hook up a rear view camera, as I did and you have DVD capabilities and all new indashes also play MP3.

I'll take some picture today and post them up.

Hope this helps!!

wow that does look good.
is the screen position okay when you drive? it looks a little low down for use of satnav. i was thinking of doing something similar but in a different way. just an idea let me know if you think its possible please.

thought about replacing the factory idrive screen with a touchscreen system using the idrive video as a secondary input to the touch screen. the touchscreen could also be hooked up an in dash system with dvd and satnav placed under the current in dash cd player (or possibly even inplace of the indash player).

do you think this idea is feasible or not? im not sure if the screen would be too far away for easy reach, but tell what you think.
