I messed up X13813 (A2) and X13812. Sorry about that.
What I meant X13813 should be X13812.
I tried to post the pic, but can't.

I live in Indiana and had Dreyer and Reinbold install my aux input..they charged me $95 to install in glove compartment and reprogram my car. I bought the aux input from Gary from Newport with the discount..

Thanks
Wade

This is one retrofit that I'm glad I did not attempt myself. Its too much pain. Also since the dealer needs to charge for coding I might I well let them do the whole thing. I know it was a great decision because I got Aux and Voice done at the same time and save a lot on labour because both involved the same areas and coding.

If you do a search you can find the instructions
See attached link http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...l=aux_input.pdf
There are some detailed PDF's to help with the install. Took me about 1/2hour to do the install in my wife's 525 and about 3/4 hour in my 645ci

Thanks lolly, I'm always up for the search thingie, actually I spend much more time on this forum than what I should (It is addictive). My problem was limiting the search to the DIY forum. Thanks again

I may be "late to the party", but if the pictures are still hosted, here is my install.

as in previos posts the important part is it needs recoding,by dealer
and that you discard the plug that comes with aux connector and place those wires into the ccc this can be confusing in the instructions.also place the gear shift if manual or automatic into the furthest position (drive or top gear) so that you can withdraw the ccc and drive units from the dash as they have to be extracted to get at the wires.so with battery disconnected prior to any dismantling of dash etc you cannot move the auto gear shift.
if you have adaptive steering the warning light will apear and you will have to reset the steering to remove this,ie turn with engine running fully left right and drive around block ,this should then clear, posible sighting of the input has to be considered before refitting trim and reassembly,ie .glove box, rear tunnel, phone box footwell etc.
my dealer said that they [prefer to run up the software prior to fitting to check measures are ok first]the fit and continue program.
here in uk it has taken as long as a whole day to program if crashes happen in upload could be 2 days.
the 1 hour cost .....well most dealers will not entertain that in the uk,but will incorporate this in with other upgrades or cip changes because of faults, like seyebrows cd running etc.
hope that clears a little more fog on this subject,
i would suggest the voice upgrade as a means to pay and get a deal for the aux coding at same time.if you can wait for the next fault to apear tell the to code then at same time.

Hello everyone,

I took my car to the dealer to do the AUX coding. however i did not install the Aux Hardware yet.

What could happen, would i lose the base ?

Can i simply retofit a stereo jack for the AUX instead of the OEM AUX from BMW ? Will it also work 100% ?

The purpose for me enabling the AUX before installing, is because i requested to reprogram the entire car.

thank you

PS : i forgot to mention that my car is not equiped with the navigation nor DVD. JUst an idrive and MP3 player. (523i 2006)
