Paint issues
#1
I am having problems with my paint and bird droppings. My 545 (Orient Blue) was delivered on May 19th and I had to take my car to the auto body shop 3 times so far to have bird droppings that etched my paint removed. I applied several coat of Zymol wax to help protect the paint and still have problems.
It's so bad, that I carried a towel and a spray bottle filled with water to remove and bird droppings as soon as I see it on my car.
Well guess what, a bird sh$% on my car while I was at work (inside the office) and it etched into my paint!
Do you know if BMW applies clearcoat to its paint? I had a '97 528I (Cranyon red) and never had this problem.
Are there any advise?

I said almost exactly what you said months ago. I got no solution to the problem either.
I apply Rejex instead of wax to chemically protect the finish. I am sure there are other good protection chemicals. What people call wax can mean many things at the chemistry level. Some use silicone, some actualy use beeswax.
It isn't possible to try each different wax, but at least try another one than what have used. I got paint sh**-etched in just 4 hours. :'(
There is a heavy clearcoat. I assume it was the only layer of paint affected.
My last car was not affected by bird sh** for 11 years parking in the same place and washing irregularly. It must the paint. I became dissapointed in the 5 paint after the etchings.
Rejex had a good write-up and endorsements, so I tried it.

I have the same problems and noticed BMW. All they did is, they measured my paint and found that it is thicker than it has to be. Then they told me that it is because of the water based paint...
This is a big problem for us, that BMW is not trying to solve...

I have had this problem too. I am lucky most of the time thought because instead of crapping on my paint they do it right on my windshield but only right in the line of vision. You know, the area that always attracts the most bug splats.
