C, just keep them when you dump the car, they'll work on everything ,except an M5 ,so you could be outta luck if you nab a beast............... if not throw them on the 550 !! ( A/W of course !!)

I'm running the original rims on my '06 E61 530XiT (Man, is the wheel fitment for this vehicle fraught with complications!!! ). Sorry that I don't know the model number for the rims, but they are 5 spoke, flat-faced, silver painted with clearcoat. I am also running the OEM brake pads (great performance but the dust SUCKS!!!!!) which not only coat the wheels (especially the fronts) immediately following a wash, but seem to embed the dust particles into the finish. I admit that I am not able to clean the wheels as often as I'd like, so the wheel dust sometimes accumulates for a few weeks. When I attempt to clean the rims, I succeed in washing away most of the surface dust, but leave behind a very rough surface, almost like coarse sandpaper.

I have tried mild abrasives (polishing compound) with some success, but it is a lot of work and still does not completely remove all of the embedded particulate.

If I promise to wash more frequently, will someone clue me in on a practical method for getting the rims back to new condition?

Purchase a claybar (...or two, considering how contaminated you say they are) and some quick detailer spray. Spray the quick detailer on the wheel and gently pass the clay back and fourth repeatedly across the surface.

Usually I clay the "dish" of the wheel first, the empty, inner rim area. I didn't look at what you had, but I have style-5s, and the I just recently clayed my wheels, and the dish was the worst.

You will not only feel the surface becoming smoother through the clay, but you will feel the significant difference on the surface when you inspect afterwards. Be sure to flip the claybar often, as wheels contaminate them horrendously fast, especially in your case.

After this, keep them waxed. From that point on, regardless of the amount of brake dust, contaminants won't build up nearly as fast, or embed as deeply as before.

PS - Cut down on dust like 95%, get Akebono pads.

I found myself cleaning mine everyday also, until i put ceramics on....wow....soooo nice!
