Car Wash or hand wash?
#21
I think paint colour affects how badly your paint shows up car wash damage too. last car I had was a metallic black bmw and occasional use did the paint in pretty quickly. Now I have silver grey and occasional use you still see the swirl marks but it's nowhere near as bad as the really dark colours for showing the damage

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
Depends...
I would never get my car into a "Auto Car Wash" with brushes.
I live close to one really great "Spray Wash" gas station and I use it for every second
time the car needs to be washed. Works pretty OK.
Every second time my E60 needs a garage wash, inside and outside that no machine can do!
The Spary Wash costs some E 20 and a hand wash at my selected garage costs the same
but two times a year the cost is E 70 at the garage.
Will send you some pics later of my now 3 winters used OEM wheels, they are as new.

With regard to preveting swirl marks. It will happen even with hand washing. My Porsche has had nothing but hand washes and waxes with microfibre towels and still has swirl marks.

hand wash only for me.. whether i do it or i go to my local car wash. then its straight home for me to wax it. just not about swirlmarks.. i dont want it to go through that tunnel because of those rollers in between those rails on the ground that pull the cars by the tire through it. ive seen wheels come out with scratches and rashes. wouldnt want that to happen to my low profile wheels.
