One Euro did buy about US$ 1.17 two years ago.

Now one Euro buys one and a half dollars (1.50).

The US dollar has crashed down about 30 % in two years and is still dropping!

I don't know how much the US BMW prices has gone up in the past two years,
but now for sure they must rise the prices.

The E60 is a German (EU) built car and is billed in Euros.

Also think about this:
A barrel of oil costs now about USD 100, when it was about $35 two years ago!
See this link.

Now the price will not go down, as it did in the 80's or 90's because we do not really
have a crises going on right now. Sorry to say, but US wars seem normal, in these days.

This raise is do to the fact that China (some 1.4 billion people!)
is growing very rapid as also soon India (some 1,1 billion people!) etc

They will not they will just milk more in Europe. The price level in US is outrageous from a European point of view. I am over there for working frequently. Next to my hotel is a Mercedes subsidiary. The price for a fully loaded S-class 8cylinder leather etc. was 95000 Dollar. The same car over here is at least this amount in Euro that is almost 50% higher. Still they seem to make money on this. That tells you what they skim off over here.

It's taxes that we get squeezed on. Consider this reality in the Netherlands:

Well-specced 530i
Base price: EUR50,100 [US$74,500]
GST/VAT: EUR9,500 [US$14,100]
Motor Vehicle Tax: EUR20,600 [US$30,600]

Total Cost: EUR80,200 [US$119,200], 38% of which is TAX!!!

Well specced 550i:
Base price: EUR61,500 [US$91,500]
GST/VAT: EUR11,700 [US$17,400]
Motor Vehicle Tax: EUR26,500 [US$39,400]

Total Cost: EUR99,700 [US$148,300], 38% of which is TAX!!!

The prices above are for cars with leather comfort seats, blinds, audio system, 6cd changer, 17" alloys, professional satnav, xenons, bluetooth but NO HUD, NO sport pack.

did u know the western country's are still using more oil then asia. but iti is true compared to other country's we pay in europe alot of tax for energy.(even stranger: if i want green energy(windmill) i must pay extra). also this car prices is strange. would it be maybe more cheaper to buy a car inthe states and register it in europe? i might go soon to the states wondering if it wil pay me off to order a bmw there and register it in europe. not in holland to much tax.

anyway of what i have heard ineurope we have better roads to drive the beamer on compared with the states or asia. so that s where the tax might go.
paying alot of tax eventually also have its benefits.

It is not a surprise that things cost less in the USA. This is true across the board, not just with cars. Almost anything we import costs us less than it would cost a native resident in the country of origin.

The USA is the largest market for BMW sales. Therefore we benefit from huge volume discounts. Add to that the fact that we don't pay much tax on our cars (depending on state).
I have my car registered in South Carolina. They have no sales tax on cars there. Only $324 for tax and tags.
Plus, we can order Euro delivery and save even more money off the already discounted price.

Paying a lot of tax has benefits? What benefits? Less money in your pocket so your car is lighter and goes a little faster?

I love the USA!

Apparently the US is the largest export market for BMW and they have considerable leverage on pricing , I understand that very little upward pricing is anticipated , we in Canada are being skewered by the way !!

In Canada a new M5 is $130,000 plus 16% tax.
And I live 30km from the US.
