Does the following time durations agree with people who have ordered 5 series in the past (see attachment). I referenced the FAQ section for the durations. If you have different durations please let me know so that I can get an accurate delivery date.

Thanks,
Leonard.

I dont think you can ever get an accurate delivery date... after the car gets released to the shipping Vessel in Germany its anyones call.. and after it arrives at the VDC... all I can say is good luck. You wont see your car or know anything about it for 3 weeks.

I like your MS Project chart !
One pointing out is a sailing part. To come to the West Coast, CA, it takes about 25-28 days in general.
If you will finish updating the file, please post project file here.

Just curious, how did you arrive at 25-28 days for 'en route'? I got this estimate from the FAQ, but I am glad you pointed it out. I will update it here:

Good luck. Since you are on the west coast, this may be of interest to you: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=5680

What do you mean? I put that MS Project Schedule together in just 10 minutes. It makes me feel better when I can track the progress of the car being built and to foresee its completion date or try to guess at it. You have to do this to past the time if not you will drive yourself crazy waiting. The wait is the worst part.

Here's my latest schedule, everything is ontime so far:

You have no idea how depressed you are making me. I ordered 12/12. The car is STILL status 112, scheduled for 2005/1/04. Based on your calculations, I won't be seeing my car until April... at the earliest?!?! That definitely doesn't agree with the dealer's timeline when I placed the order! Never though I'd have to buy a car to get me through to when my BMW would get here.

I'm going back in the corner to pout some more.

I bought this car because of what I thought was so cool: SMG, HUD, Bluetooth, NAV & the sport suspension. ( OH MY GOD THE RIDE!!! ) Reading about the negatives AND looking at my wait, I have to really wonder about my judgement.

Some of the negatives:

1. The NAV CD slot on the center console... How many times are you going to change that cd?!? Seems it should be mounted in the trunk or glovebox to better clean up the visuals. (maybe I'm missing something here?) Didn't the whole iDrive thing start so that the dash could be as clean as possible?

2. The NAV screen is apparently quite a bit smaller than most and the NAV is difficult to use while in transit.

3. No place to hold things?! A lot of people here are bumming over having no storage space to hold little things within arm's reach of the driver. I guess I really don't NEED sunglasses though.

4. Cupholders...... 'Nuff said

5. The door locks don't open automatically when you turn off the engine?!?! My 7 year-old FORD does that! WTF?!?!

6. The techno on this car is a big reason to buy it... BUT in the US, you can't order a lot of it together! For example... Ventilated comfort seats means no rear heated seats, headlight washers OR heated steering wheel. Or, no RDS with NAV?!?!

7. The techno on the car is apparently way, WAY over most technician's ability level to service, let alone trouble shoot and repair.

8. There seems to be a lot of other little things that really don't work well. Rain sensor, side mirrors, reverse lights, trunk handle(s), ,,, add your favorite gripe here.

BUT OH MY GOD THE RIDE!!!

I love the car, warts ( ) and all. Is that ok or should I have my head examined?

1.) Maybe they will use the DVD for Video later on wiht software upgrade! or DVD Music!!!! Ok maybe I'm dreaming...

5.) I actually prefer it not to unlock with the ignition... when I stop my car i'm not always prepared to open the door and so I dont want someone from the outside to be able to open my door. I feel safer that way. (* but thats me.*) I think its has to be dealer programmable... in my MINI its dealer programable... if i wanted auto unluck with key ignition off.

7.) ACK~~~ Dont remind me!

8.) You win some... you lose some... I'm sure other cars have their fair share of complaints... Mercedes one of them for sure... and I'm positive even the good ol' Japanese cars have their problems...
