I am a new BMW owner, and i have been reading the posts regulary now for a week or two. Is there any good service departments out there? I am scared to bring my car in to a service center. There has not been any posts in a positive way when speaking of the service department. Are they alllllllll bad? It seems we have payed allot for our cars, and I love mine but i am wondering if i have an issue with the car will i have a problem with the dealer? What are your thoughts?

as the old marketing saying goes.....experience bad service/product and the average consumer tell's 10 people about it....experience good service/product and the average consumer tell's noone, they expect it.

same on forums like this....99% of the time things are OK we only come on here to have a rant seriously....you have to bear in mind that most of us on this forum are pretty passionate or is that fussy? about our cars, we expect good service etc etc and report it immediately if not received, though to be honest most of the stuff we go thru would be OK to most people but again we are fussy

don't worry just take the car in....and if you hit a problem you have this forum with which to arm yourself with the necessary info.

There are good service departments out there, but as with most things I've found it's driven by competition. Here in New Orleans, there is only one dealer within a 90 mile radius, so the kind of have you by the ba**s. Having said that, I've been in twice, once for the Fuel Line Clip recall and for an Increased Emissions warning and they have been quite helpful, though they said the emissions warning was because I had not tightened the fuel cap properly or had filled the tank with the engine running. Having delt with this issue on my wife's Acura MDX several times, I can tell you I am very careful about tightening the cap and I have never filled my car with the engine running, so we'll see if it happens again. Don't know if San Antonio is a single dealer market like N.O., but the more positive remarks tend to come from larger markets where there is more than one dealer competing for your $$$'s. That is a generalization of course, and there will be exceptions. Good luck.

Prestige BMW in North Jersey is one of the best.

As far as service goes.

mine is one of the worst ! viper786 is one of the guys saying good things about his dealer . i kind of agree with northernmonkey but good service from the dealer doesn't mean we have to feel like we hit a jackpot. that's their job. they have to provide good services, especially in the market that they are selling above average cars. i'm not saying people deserve bad services when they go get a kia. it's kind of like in las vegas. casinos always provide excellent services for their vips. limo, suite room, helicopter, even private jet for some. why? because they want loyal, return customers! same as any businesses, good service is one of the most important keys for success. i'm one of those guys who care about services as much as the products. i used to be armani, louis vuitton, and gucci's long time customer. i went every time when they sent me invitations. but after some of the staffs left, i don't go down as often as before. and i only receive their invitations once in awhile now <_<. my point is good service will never hurt the dealer's reputation .
