Excellent information as usual CobraDev.

I've a question if I may, is there more detailed information available on these SIB's if needed? For example, I noted this entry in the automatic transmission section.

Automatic Transmission 24 03 08 July-08 E9x/E60 E60, E9x with N54 and 6HP19TU - Jolt and Delay when Pulling Away (rpl 6/08)

Twice when my car has been in the dealer, I've asked them to look a similar issue with the transmission. For me, it's more of a delay and then a jolt, the jolt being caused by the transmission engaging after I've increased the throttle progressively when the car isn't moving away. After the last lot of fixes to the car, the response from the dealer was that this is a normal characteristic of the transmission which I told them was not really acceptable. In all honest it's probably only happened 6 times in the year I've owned the car (from new), but on each occassion, they've been reasonably brown pants moments

I have a feeling that the N54 is the engine model fitted to my 535d, I think this was released shortly before my car was made and has improved mpg than the outgoing model. Not sure though an I've no idea what the 6HP19TU relates to?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Barry

I'll get you both the full SIBs tomorrow. However, I do know that the 535d does not use the N54 engine. That is petrol only. I do not have access to non US spec service bulletins. This does not mean, however, that your car may not have the same symptoms and cure. I try to get that posted up for you.

No need to wait until tomorrow (and no need for cobradav to work any harder than he already does)...

Hey Rudi, thanks. I have just got to get my other computer up to snuff.

Here is the auto tranny SIB on the Jolt and Delay issue:

Thanks for that Cobradev!

Another question if I may, the pdf refers to an integration level of E060-07-09-530 or lower. Is this the progman version? If so, what version would that relate to? As of my last visit (a couple of weeks ago) I was told that the car had been programmed to 30.02 which I assume is fairly new, and maybe will have resolved the problem? Strangely though, when I questioned the dealer if they had resolved the issue they said they hadn't done anything specific and that it was a characteristic of the transmission!?!

Thanks again for the information.

Yes and using table contained in post #63 that would translate to 28.00.01 so if now at 30.00.02 you would currently be at TDS of E060-08-03-550.

This might be a stupid question as I am new to the BMW family. I think I have this issue on my 05 545i. Does this refer to my model? I am unsure how to read the doc.

Thanks for your help and patience.

No, this is not your engine or build dates. You have an N62 engine (V8). However, there is a bulletin that just may be your issue. Very common back in the MY04-05 era. If you bought used you may have purchased a car that the owner never complained about or did and it was not diagnosed properly.

Try this one: SIB_240305.pdf
