Ordered a 09 335i to try and lease. Dealer got the rates and it was nuts! Mind you the car was quite loaded. NAV/Prem/Cold/6M.

36 month
$2500 down
$749/month

I almost choked. Absolutely NUTS! I am so glad I went CPO.

Yeah, me too! BMW is gonna have so much inventory. i think they are trying to push CPO cause they are overloaded. They should be giving these things away

It is the new head of BMW NA, he wants to lower the staggering amount of people that Lease BMW (over 65% lease instead of buy), couple that with the credit crunch, and the fact that the new BMW NA head diverted 40,000 cars from NA next year due to not wanting to have to Subsidize their sales ( aka: trunk money, dealer incentives, good lease/buy rates) to other parts of the world (Russia and the far east) where cars can be marked up a lot.

Audi may have just moved up to #2 in the NA market since VAG is pushing very hard to sell over 1million cars by 2015.

I'm willing to bet there will be some HUGE dealer backlash against the new Head ( Came from BMW UK) due to high inventories, and low sales...

I checked out lease rates on a new, ordered 2009 535xi at the local dealership today to replace a leased X5 that will return to BMW soon. Suffice it to say that there was a chasm between my expectations and what BMW FS is offering on the 2009 535xi. While the interest rate for purchasing is not too bad, the leasing numbers stink. For the first time in 10+ yrs, there will not be a BMW in my garage. This economy stinks. Huge losses in net worth and escalating costs of living. At least I have a job....
