QUOTE(ipse dixit @ Nov 24 2005, 06:22 PM)

"Is it really worth it to go through all the trouble of contacting multiple dealers, going out of state, etc. to pocket an extra $1,000?? Sure, $1,000 is nothing to sneeze at, but when you've already conditioned yourself to spend $60k to anywhere upwards of $70k (out the door price including tax, title, license, etc.), a savings of $1,000 seems rather trivial."

Actually sending out e-mails and a couple of phone calls isn't that tough or that time consuming.

Agree that $1000 may be trivial in the scheme of things but if you aren't informed and pay MSRP, then you are talking more like $5000. Plus part of it is just feeling like you got a good/decent/fair deal.

Ok, then he can try +$1,370 if +$1,000 doesn't work.
You mean +$1,800
[$67,129 -.92($67,120)] - $4,000 = $1,269.60,

Interesting math.

......and I do not want to buy a car and have the motor changed within 6-8 months.

Aaaaargh..............! You don't have to rub it in.

Just hope the Knumbskulls at BMW marketing arn't considering a 555 for next year. I got burned terribly with the resale value of my 545 due to 550.

Very true. I have only bought six cars so far and I can tell you I am a whole lot better at it now. The first car have me travelling to and bickering at several dealers. Now I pretty much go tell them what I want and thank them for their time if they can't do it. (Amazingly they will do it more often then not) and when they won't agree to your price at least you know that the car is hotter than you thought for now, just go back with the same offer in few months.
