Need help on some questions about trading in my car!
#1
Hey guys, it looks like it may be time to move on and look at something more economical.
I have a few questions for you.
My car is nicely modded, it does have some rubbing issues on the front tires and the exhaust is very loud and a bit rattly right now.
I have the original 545i wheels in my garage.
My question to you is will a dealership look at a car with modified body work and a custom exhaust, but with stock wheels, negatively or will they not really care and just wholesale the car, would this affect the wholesale price?
Is it better for me to remove my DPEs and sell them independently or keep them on the car, if I plan on trading them in.
If the DPEs were the only modification, I would obviously remove them and put on stock wheels, but the cost of changing the entire car back to stock far outweighs the benefit of selling some of those parts on the market.
Thoughts?
Also, is a BMW/Mini dealership definitely the best place to get the best trade in value?
Thanks for all your help.

Just put your vehicle in stock condition and sell your mod parts here for some nice extra cash.
Certainly you'll get more than another brand dealer is going to give you for them on the vehicle.

right, i understand that.
The problem is, that if I take my car in with stock wheels but it has a modified rear bumper that is clearly not stock and a custom dual exhaust, also clearly not stock, are they going to penalize me for having a car that doesn't look "right".
We can all agree that a car with modified bodywork and stock wheels doesn't look "right". Is a dealer going to notice this or not?

They are going to low ball no matter what you do...so you should get whatever you can by selling the parts. It sounds to me like the biggest problem you have is that the '......exhaust is very loud and a bit rattly...', not a good thing on a luxury car, .....unless you could arrange a trade (not easy) with another E60 owner with similar taste.
