Since I am about to order my car and now can order an '05 is it a mistake to order an '04? My thought process is that in '05 Wood will be standard on all models and I really like the Titanium finish of a non-premium pkg '04 model. Also I am assuming an increase in price ($300-400) for '05 as well.

Back in 2000 when I bought my Jetta I had 2 front airbags and 2 sides, well for '01 they added side curtain and head airbags in addition to what I had, nothing like this seems to be happening for the '05 e60 except for the wood trim which I am not too fond of. Am I making a mistake if I got the '04?

Peace

There's nothing wrong with getting a 2004 model. I'd personally wait to get a 2005 if I was buying now just to have an 05 and not a brand new 1 year old car but that's just me.

We're still unsure when the new I6 engines will make their way into the lineup either. If you're getting a 525/530 and power is a concern to you then you have another reason to wait.

If you really like the titanium and want an '05 then order the Titanium trim, get your car, swap out the trim, and sell the wood on e-bay or suck up the loss. That is what I would do if I wanted best of both worlds. I had to have titanium put back in mine after I ordered the premium package.

i would order the '05 since there are some minor software problems for the '04 models. the '05 models should eliminate all these hassles. also, there are a few threads in this forum talked about the options that will available for the '05. one of them is sport steering wheel (pls correct me if i'm wrong). people also saying the interior materials are better quality for the newer models.

<_< Well , I 've just ordered a 545i for Nov delivery and dont't mind the timing.
But has the latest engine technology BMW is offering at the moment and got
most options!
If I were you I 'd wait for for 2005 models since the new lineup of six cylinder
motors will have valvetronic technology and reduced consumption...

So no word if the new I6 engines will be in for '05? What differences does the I6 engine have over the current '04 525i engine?
