I was told it is a very small difference in it's price. Waay more expensive are the climate-windshields with infrared protection.

..."Next victim, I mean, RL competitor, was the BMW 530i (without Sport package). I explicitly mention this because this BMW's handling was quite bland. Maybe the engine was so weak that I simply could not affect the car's behavior with the throttle. The BMW's steering feel was also a notch lower than the new RL's feel which is a revelation. BMW had it right with their previous generation 5 series in terms of steering feel and weight. If it was not for the RL, the BMW would be the king of the hill between all these cars. However, the RL simply outshines the BMW in handling dynamics. "
Just curious what people think about that? I find it hard to believe that the RL will handle better than the 530i. Of course I won't know until I go drive it...but

You are reading a dedicated Honda site.... <_< then again, you are visiting a dedicated BMW 5 series forum .
Well maybe the sport package made a difference?
Anyways, thanks for pointing out that site. One more article to read today! I'm a web surfing junkie you see.
Just remember, don't always trust the press!!!

Without bothering to read the article, I'll add two points of interest:
1) They didn't test the sport package.
2) It's from a Honda (VTEC) site.
Given those two points, I'm not sure how accurate the review can be...

Two more things. I think you can draw some conclusions from this statement:
"The 2004 3.5RL actually surprised me a bit. Sure, its default handling trait is constant understeer, but I was able to get it to rotate somewhat with more aggressive trail braking."
And then they are comparing different years. Look where the 2004s ranked. Wait for the 2005 530 and then do it again:
"To rate these cars from just this particular track driving experience, I would place them in this order:
1. 2005 Acura RL
2. BMW 530i
3. Mercedes E320 4Matic
4. 2004 Acura 3.5RL
5. Audi A6 Quattro "

My Ride: 04 525i sport, premium, winter, xenon. xm satellite radio, navwithtv dvd system, 1 jl 10w7 sub powered by xtant 1001x amp. 20x8.5/10 on nitto nt555 rubber. acs roof and decklid spoiler, breyton front spoiler.
the handling and driving with the sport package are worlds apart from the standard trim, the 530 sport and the tl are not even in the same stratosphere as far as handling and road feel are concerned
