Yes you can, as Beewang said. Go to another dealer.

[quote name='Canada545' date='Jan 29 2005, 11:45 AM']Tried to order a 545i with a production date of after 9th week (second week of March 2005) and my Canadian Dealer just phone me back saying that the 545i is being discontinued and I will not be able to order that car with that engine.?

The 545i, so he tells me, is being replaced with the 550i, but he does not yet have the pricing on it.? The build date for this car in Canada would? be no earlier than April.? The 550i will be known as a 2006.?

On another topic, he said that ED needs 6 month lead time, can anyone confirm?

Finally, that pre-wire for Satellite and NAV can't be done in the 545i, can anyone confirm?

Now I need to decide "Do I still order the 545i or not?" and what kind of discount should I get for ordering a car with an engine that is being discontinued? :'(

Definitely order the 550i. Please ask your salesman if the 550i will be available in the USA this fall too and let us know.

Mark, I talked to my Dealer Sales Rep today and he told me the 550i will be available in September/October 2005. Classic BMW in Dallas, Texas. He said no exterior changes and the Zero to 60 time dropped about 2/10's.

We will see!

Out with the old in with the new.

Anyways, the (September 05 production?) 550i will be smokin', the 545i is still an awesome car just like the 2003 E39 540i was and still is.

In the sales brochure the fine print says they (BMW) reserve the right to make changes at any time without prior notice. OH WELL!.

I want one!

Anyone interested in a MY05 545 with 450 miles on it? It'll be arriving from European delivery in the next couple of weeks.

Thats great! I will be talking to my dealer soon, or I guess I'll be headed to Dallas. Thanks for the update.

What do you think the new engine will cost?

Just a short history lesson...the M52TU engine was used in the E46 323's for only two years (in the sedans) before being replaced by the M54 engine, and the smaller-displacement I-6 was then rebadged the 325 for 2001. Since the ci's debuted in 2000, there was only ONE year of 323ci with the M52TU. Same thing for the higher displacement I-6's, e.g. 328 vs. 330. It seems that it's VERY likely that when the 750 goes online later this year, BMW will follow likewise with the E60.....there IS a precedent for this.....

I'll now been told by two dealers that they (the dealer) can not order any new 545i for April production (they may though be able to order "sold" 545i's but nothing for their showrooms) ... they hinted again that most likely the 550i will begin production and be shipped once the 545i inventory in the dealerships is reduced ... most likely seeing the 550i arriving in the fall in North America ...
