My 530i SE is November 2003 built and my Dunlops are 4303.
Car has done 10500 miles and tyres do not look that worn at all, so no sign of excessive wear. There maybe a hint of the inner having slightly less rubber than the outer but nothing down to the levels as Olvin530i's though. Will keep any eye on it.

Noise seems fine at the moment, obviously on some road surfaces noise seems loud but on a newly laid tarmac on the motorway the noise is minimal.

As my Dunlops are 03 does that mean its the affects typres???

Olivin530i,

The wear pattern appears to be more on the inner than the outer, but the rears appear that they are wearing evenly.? Noise started around 10,000 now I have about 16,000 and now has gotten much worse.? It is unbearable if the radio is not turned.

GP545iSport,

If your fronts are visibly wearing more on the inside and they are XX03, then it's exactly why I got new tires!

Your rears are XX04 and are lightly to wear evenly.

A couple of E60 owners here have XX03s on their rears and they wear pretty evenly - theirs are on staggered configuration though, 275R18 rears and 245R18 fronts on style 124s - and that leaves me wondering if mine could be a camber issue??

Hi BMW530,

I believe when my ride was at 10500 miles, the tires did not look that bad - and I would usually look only on the outside - afterall, who would have expected the rears to be worn unevenly.

If yours have a hint of more going off from the inner, you would be wise to keep a close watch.

Could you please let me know if your tire configuration is staggered?

I think it's important to note the speed rating on the tires when discussing wear, not just the date code.

I think some of the cars came from the factory with a higher speed rated tire on the rear which would cause it to wear faster than the fronts (as mine did).

The replacements are all rated the same with regard to speed.

BMW just replaced my tires last Friday with new Dunlops. I was hoping for Bridgestones; however, I can not complain since they picked up the tab. I hope the new tires does not give me any problems.

Thanks for the posts!!

realtyman,

1. do your rears have differing manufacture dates? That is, do you have a XX04 on the left and XX03 on thr right?

2. do you have different speed ratings like Rudy suggested?

3. are the left and right equal in pressure?

and perhaps, just perhaps, do you always have a bigger passenger on the right? ...LOL.

Guys I have a question.

I've got the Dunlop runflats with 7500 miles. I'm not sure if mine have yet to fail. The ride is a little harsh but not sure if that is just the nature of the tires or what.

What are the telltale signs i should start watching out for? How would you describe the tire noise? Or should i just start the process now and complain of noise?

It will sound like you are driving a truck with off-road tires. Mine started making noise around 5500 miles. Just had them replaced at no charge at 8300 miles. Couldn't stand the noise anymore.

Hi Olivin530i,

What do you mean by tyre configuration is staggered?
I have the same alloys as your E60, so its the 18in 245/40 tyres all round.
