I was told as long as it is not a xx03, your tires are alright.

Can someone with a late 2003 build or early 2004 build that still has factory runflats please post the date stamped on your tires?

JDN, are you reading this? Our cars were built the same week or so and I think you still have the factory tires, right?

Anyone else?

Hey Rudy,

I have an early '04 build and have the original Dunlops which I just put back on.
Is this what you are looking for? (Same number on all 4 tires).
BTW, I called my SA yesterday to see if there is anything that they can do for me.
The Dunlops roar is drowning out the sweet sound of the B&B.
I know it's a long shot, but "if you don't ask, you don't get".

Olivin530i,

Thanks for your post regarding the bulletin. Do you by chance have the bulletin number?

I have been on the phone with BMWNA to get my tires replaced also from my local dealership. I will let everyone know what the outcome is.

Rudy,

I have a Jan. 2004 build and my front tires are XX03 and my rears have XX04. I will get the first two numbers and post later on today.

Unfortunately I did not remember to get the bulletin number from my dealer. I would try and would report if I could.

GP545iSport,

since your fronts are XX03, could you please check the wear pattern - if you see that they are wearing on the inner more than the outer, than your dealer may want to raise a PUMA and you may get new tires

Just out of curosity,

1. what's your mileage like?
2. If your rears are XX04, do they have the same wear pattern as the fronts?

Cheers

Olivin530i,

The wear pattern appears to be more on the inner than the outer, but the rears appear that they are wearing evenly. Noise started around 10,000 now I have about 16,000 and now has gotten much worse. It is unbearable if the radio is not turned.

Thank you for the great information. My tires are Dunlops RFT and have dates of 0104 & 0604. They started making noise about 6K and are getting worse both in noise and ride. And since my tires are 04s and suppose to be the improved ones, I am considering a non-run flat tire. I can hear my bluetooth but people I am talking to complain about the noise the microphone is picking up from the tires. When I come to a stop they say that they can hear me just fine.

I am looking for new tires and may talk to my SA at BMW dealer. I hate to do that since they just replaced my TCU for the bluetooth to work.

I'd pursue the new Dunlops from the dealership. I don't think we've established that the 04 tires are all redesigned. There may be a date in 04 that is magic but for now, I wouldn't worry about it. Just tell your dealer that the noise is excessive and you want a PuMa case opened with BMW. (There are tons of posts here that you can print and give to him if he hesitates with helping you out.) You'll probably get new tires -- even if they are Dunlop runflats again, why not take them?

Mine are 1804 build, and starting to make more noise. Only 1500km, since I had the wintersetup until not long ago.
