Doug,

As long as it has the options you want, I would get the '06 vs. waiting several months for a '07 assuming you are going the new route. $500 is a good deal and the '07 will not have any improvements from what I know.

If you are only planning to keep the car for 3-4 years, you want to consider a 3-yr lease deal for the 530i given the money factor now is only 0.0014 (3.4%) plus you only pay sales tax on the price less residual value.

Also, have you considered comfort seats? I love mine!

Get the new car. You won't regret it. Nice options package and color choice!

get the one with the most options in it that you like.......the one that looks better in terms of how it stands out from the others..13000 miles is not much when u think about how good bmw engines are

My Ride: In the process of buying the right 2006 530i

Wow, I love this Forum! I always get such excellent help, opinions, and suggestions.

Out of the two choices, which car do you think is the best value? By that I mean, considering purchase price, current miles of 0 vs 13,000, and say 12,000 miles per year driven; four years from now, which car do you think will sell for more and how much more?

Also, if I did go New, do you think a $500 over invoice price makes up for the hit I will take when the 07's come out? Also, if I buy new, is it a smart move, or not a smart move to buy a 06 now?

Thank you.

Yes, I really like the Silver Gray, I have pretty much decided to buy the new 530i. Silver Gray is my first color choice. Now, I need to decide whether to buy the 06 on the lot for $500 over invoice, or order a 07, and hope I can get a decent price. What to do

Doug,

13K miles is quite a bit for a July '05 build date - probably mostly highway miles though, and the CPO makes up for it.

If you plan to keep the car for 4+ years, I still would go with the black. If you plan to sell before the original warranty is up, it's more of a toss-up.
Yes, I agree, 13,000 miles is quite a bit for a July build car. I need to make this decision by tomorrow. Maybe, I will just go new. What do you think of the price on the new 2006? Do you think that is a good deal, given the fact that the 07 is just around the corner? Do you think I am making a mistake by getting a 06 now, when the 07 is around the corner?
I just ordered a MY07 550 yesterday. With Euro delivery included I got $ 500 over invoice. Also in the midwest zone they now offer 2.9% financing which Ill take and let my investments earn a better return. The dealer said he would cover my loan on the 2.9% till I get my car ( June?) even though the current financing offer expires in Feb 28th.

Wow, you got a great deal! I don't know if I will be able to do an ED or not, but If I was able to do an ED, would I be able to order from your dealer, and have the car shipped from Europe to California where I live?

I would start with your dealer. Tell him you want an 07 and with ED it doesn't come out of the dealers allotment. Its more of a paperwork thing for them. But its a 3-4 month wait. The ED savings on a 550 is $4,020 plus work a % off after the ED. Try 1.5 to 2% off the remainder. That will get you close to $500 over invoice.

They want to sell the rest of their 06's. BTW why was that CPO traded in so early. I dont think that was a dealers loaner car cause of the mileage.

definately go with the new silver over the 06 CPO. Someone posted earlier that there is not difference between the MY06 and MY07 530i, yes there is no difference in apperance but there is a big difference in the options listed esp. with the sports package you ordered. with the MY07 sports option selected you also get comfort seats along with it, which we all know is much better than the sports seat in the MY06. if you are happy with the options on ur MY06 then just go ahead with your order but if u can wait then just order a MY07 since the options are better. there is a thread on the specific differences btw the MY06 & MY07 options. someone esle knows this better than me, where is ICEMAN or Stream when you need em, lol
