My Ride: In the process of buying the right 2006 530i
Default

Hi all. Well, I have finally made the decision, I am getting a 2006 530i. Yes, I know the 07 is around the corner, but my price is $500 over invoice, which I believe is very good. (Please tell if it is not a good price, before I part with the money) I do have a choice of two cars, the dealer is awaiting my choice: Here are the facts:

New 2006 530i
Silver Grey, Black Interior
Automatic
Sport Package
Premium Package
Navigation
Pricing is as follows
Invoice $42770
Destination 695
Automatic 1210
Sport 2095
Premium 1710
Navigation 1640
Price over Invoice 500
Total $50620
Tax at 7.97% 4034
License/Fees 490
OUT THE DOOR $55144

2006 CPO 530i, Black Sapphire, Black Interior
Options are as follows:
Automatic
Sport
Premium
Navigation
HUD
Cold Weather Package
OUT THE DOOR PRICE is $51,000

I like both colors, so no problems there. I just need advice and or opinions as to which one you people would get if you were buying and why? It really does help me to make a good decision, when I am able to hear the opinions of others. I take everything in, analyze it, then decide.

Thanks to a GREAT Forum!

Why the $4K difference? The cheaper option also has HUD. Get the black one.

Excuse my limey ignorance, but what is CPO?

It seems like a no brainer in favor of the used one - what is the mileage? Was it a demo? Did it have an accident of any kind?

CPO will be very valuable given the electronics on the car and don't discount the CPW - I am in AZ and use it even on 60 degree days - very nice.

To the limey: CPO is an extended BMW-sponsored warranty - up to 6 years/100K miles. The standard warranty here in the U.S. is 4 years/50K miles.

I was just wondering that. Considering the difference in price, is it something about a previous owner. A second hand car, to us.

My apologies, I left off the mileage of the 2006 CPO, it has 13,000 miles. It was a July 05 Build date. Please keep opinions coming. Again, it helps to hear from everyone on this Forum. I value and respect all the posters on this Board. It is a tremendous community.

Doug,

13K miles is quite a bit for a July '05 build date - probably mostly highway miles though, and the CPO makes up for it.

If you plan to keep the car for 4+ years, I still would go with the black. If you plan to sell before the original warranty is up, it's more of a toss-up.

Yes, I agree, 13,000 miles is quite a bit for a July build car. I need to make this decision by tomorrow. Maybe, I will just go new. What do you think of the price on the new 2006? Do you think that is a good deal, given the fact that the 07 is just around the corner? Do you think I am making a mistake by getting a 06 now, when the 07 is around the corner?
