E39 M5 - no doubt, a great car in its time, in fact, a great car now....But $56K for a used car which will be replaced in the near future (and bring along with it greater depreciations of the e39 M5)? Especially when you can purchase a 05' E60 545 with all the trimmings right now? I don't think so........please go for the e60. Just my 2 cents......

Killing time waiting for the car, I was looking around at some of the competitors and found the Audi RS6. Pretty interesting car, 450 Horsepower, Quattro. A local dealer has one that has been on the lot since November, it is a 2003, they didn't make any 2004's. It's sticker is $85K, I asked if they would take $60K and he called me back to say the lowest they would go is $72K. I wonder what they will be saying when it's 2005 and they still haven't sold it.
For some reason the RS6 has been a hard sell and I've read of many dealers giving 10K rebates if you simply ask.

BTW, in 2005 the RS6 with the new bodystyle should be out with a rumored V-10 Gallardo engine.

I faced the same decision and even though I'm more than happy with the 545, I somewhat wish I went the the e39 M5. $56K for a CPO M5 with just 17K miles seems like a good deal to me.

The e60 may make a plain, unmodded e39 look old and boring, but an e39 with a M5 bodykit and a set of rims will always look good to me. Recently I went on a canyon run and was trailed by a M5 with BBS LMs and I found myself quite fond of the car.

But nevermind me, this is an e60 forum and the e60 is a great car so just get the e60.

For those people that have cars sitting at the VPC, call your salesperson and ask him when yours is scheduled to be shipped out.
