I purchased mine. Just wondering what the mix is. My guess is 50-50.

Leased. Exhaustive calculations, given the economic conditions, clearly favored leasing even without tax deductibility

Hello fellow Rhode Islander!! I leased
Get this...

I traded in my wonderful 2002 996 coupe with so many mods I forget...on a 2005 545 with 8K miles, wrote a check for it. Dealer gave me ok $ for the 996 trade, and a good deal on the silighty used 545. Step, black saphire, sport pkg., active steering, etc.

This was three months ago. I really only keep cars 2-3 years, so I figured I could use the cash and decided to lease a new 550. I went back to the same dealer (my 996 was still on their lot!!) and they took back the 545 they sold me (yea, I took a 4K loss) but put me in a nice new 550 (same color, options, etc) and I drove away on a three year lease.

The difference between the 545 and 550 is very noticable. I would be glad to answer any questions out there if anybody wants to be specific on what I feel is different, but for those who are wondering if they shoud step up to the 550, I would say absolutely yes.

Bford100,
Have you driven an e39 M5, and if so how do you compare it to the 550? I have but the time difference was so great I do not recall. I really do not think the 550 is much slower (0-60) than my e466 M3 SMG was. This 4.8 liter engine really revs freely and has a ton of torque.

Darkside:

No, the only M5 I have ever driven was the one I owned back in 1989, first year they began to export back to USA. I am afraid to drive the new M5, that will just get me in financial trouble.....

Yes please tell me. I'm very interested. Tell me everything you notice...

Standing start
In gear acceleration
Engine smoothness
Power feel during certain Revs

Etc... I dont know what else to ask... just tell me everything thats different. You can PM me too if you find it not appropriate to post back here.
