I would like to thank all who replied to this thread and this wonderful forum for the help. I bought the car, and it is fantastic! Looking forward to asking more questions :-) and contributing to the forum as well.

hey

welcome to the forum!!!!!!!

I'm pretty new myself and read the forum almost every other day.

I bought what seems like a similiar car but with slighty more options in New Jersey for $41,990.

But I did buy from a BMW Dealer and so got the CPO extended warranty. I would DEFINITLEY always buy CPO from a bmw dealer and NOT from another dealer due to getting the CPO extended warrenty- just my opinion.

hope it all works out for you

Gene

thanks!
Its a funny thing - my Z3 drives SOOOO different now that I've driven 1 day in E60! I always considered Z3 a bit tight and raw, but now it just feels like a pure brutal freaking roadster! A raw sportscar...

5er is a totally different experience - soft (yes, even with the sport pack) yet confident. I need to drive it more!

Certified Pre - Owned.

to get ship schedules, go to the WW's home page (using the link I posted above), under auto cargo, look up schedules between Bremmerhaven and Halifax. that will tell you what ships ar sailing and when they are due in port.

thanks Anast. Will do! Does anyone have any photos of what the cars look like on the ships with the wax or wrappers on them? Or any pictures of cars arriving at Port as they're unloaded? Love to see that!

The 5'ers do not get the condoms, only shipping wax and plastic film that is installed over portions of the body in Halifax after the wax is removed. There are protective cushions installed over exposed portions of the car. It's quite a feat to think that, depsite the large number of cars that get shipped, very few sustain any shipping damage.

On the other hand, when things go wrong, the really can go wrong!!!!

The Tricolor was carrying 2,871 or so BMW's, Volvos, Benz's etc. when it went down three years ago. Many of the cars were European Delivery vehicles being redelivered to their owners in the US.

And the cars later recovered from the bottom of the ocean? A bit of polish and they were back on the BMW lot the next week.
