Have a quick tire question
Hi Guys,
I have a quick tire question for you all.
I have a 2005 530i with stock style 138 wheels.
BMW wheel style 138 | BmwStyleWheels.com
They currently have
225 /50 R17 94V Continental TOURING CONTACT CV95.
Discount tire sells each wheel at $198
My cousin found a buyer for his stock 2015 328i 17 inch wheels but he only wants the rims and not the tires. The tires have about 1K miles on them. He offered them to me for $200.
Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Run Flat, Size 225/50 R17
I have never owned run flats before. Is there anything that should not make me buy these? 1/4 of the price is pretty great deal.I read these are a lot better than the run flats put on the E60 back in the day.

Couple of things. Many people don't like run flats for the stiffness and lesser performance handling. I'm not sure it is all that noticeable, IMO. But, if you get a puncture on the run flat, you likely won't find anyone who will fix it. Not sure if you care about that. I don't have run flats on my 2006 530xi and I do have run flats on wife's 2009 X5.
As to what others think, go to tirerack.com and look at the reviews and ratings of each of your tire type and see what others think.

My thoughts are this: How many miles are left on your Contis? I'd grab your cousin's run-flats at that price and put them on when your Contis wear out. If, at that time, you decide you don't like them, you can always sell them for more than you paid.
I have also read that the run flats are better today than they used to be, but twh's advise is a good idea. Go to Tire Rack and read the reviews.
BTW, what was the point of the picture you posted? That was neither the Pirelli tire, nor the Style 138 wheels.
