not even close, it's 2 years
Thanks for the info. I recently moved my BMW from US to Korea. I am in search of warranty info here. I expect same standard international warranty but let me see.

To confuse it further - there's also the question of Goodwill - sometimes BMW acknowledge a malfunction as design/production fault and takes either full blame or 50% of it. But as with all Goodwill issues, don't count on it.

I would think the warranty should be whatever it was when/where you bought it. If I buy a car in the US with a 4 year warranty, and subsequently I move to Canada, that shouldn't change what I originally purchased from BMW or the contractual agreement it implies.

A Canadian Dealer told me that the 4 year warranty coverage on cars originally sold in US is honoured by BMWNA if the car is now serviced through a Canadian Dealer. I checked into this when I was looking to buy in the US.

I've got my doubts about this. The warranties on most of our cars come from BMW NA, BMW UK, BMW Netherlands, etc. - not from BMW AG in Munich. The contractual agreement implied in your purchase is therefore with the local issuer of your warranty. It's now up to those local issuers how they decide to honour (or not) warranties issued by their counterparts, and what criteria/limitations they want to set on them.

I would expect there to be some clarification from a combination of the local issuers plus BMW AG where an international/export sale is being made (e.g. European Delivery, International Diplomatic Sales, etc.), so you'd need to ask about this when making initial purchase arrangements. I hve my doubts however whether this would apply to a car purchased locally and subsequently taken to another country or re-sold in a different country.
