My CA called me yesterday and told me the 2004 I ordered arrived from the VPC 2 weeks early . I think I'll stick with the 2005 with some more options Nasca, Vent Seats and premium sound. I'm glad for everyone that this DME nightmare will soon be over.

VPC = Vehicle Preparation Center

DME = engine control module (Bosch Digital Motor Electronics)

Thanks

TLA = three letter acronym

FLEA = four letter extended acronym

My 545 finally arrived at the dealer. It appears that many of the recalled cars were released nearly at the same time from the VPCs.

For the benefit of anyone still waiting, my car arrived at the VPC on 7/21.

Glad to hear it. I obtained the VIN for the replacement car today and it appears that it arrived at the VPC on day after the car I ordered and the number is within the recall range, I don't know why this car would have been released and mine was not. Maybe they were both released and they wanted to sell me the more expensive car? Who knows. I am requesting a copy of the VPC report. I should be picking up the car tomorrow.

Just got a new DME installed today on my 545i. Took almost a month from the date of the recall announcement. Drove car straight though the month with no problems (hoping that no problems arise from the new DME). Good luck to all of you waiting for a new DME.
