My car is scheduled to be released from the VPC on 10/08 and arrive at the dealership on 10/10. Still trying to decide whether to lease or buy.

Update - talked to my CA today - all 2005 BMW V8 cars are still being held up at the VPC due to EPA emissions certification. He expects the cars to be released on 10/16. Anyone hear anything different?

Hi,

I have been following the e60 forum and very informative posts, although I am soon to be 645Cic owner, the cars use the same electronic systems and engine. I like you am awaiting the release of my 645 which has been held up at the VPC since 9/26. It is especially frustrating as no one seems to have a straight answer as to when they will be released.

However, the date your dealer quoted, 10/16, is a Saturday and the VPC is only open M-F from 7am to 4pm. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that will be the date. If anyone has any more information on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Rob

Just to add another. My 545 is scheduled to be released 10/16 also. VPC in SC. I guess that I shouldn't hold my breath....

I repeat an earlier question (with a modification) - Does anyone in the US have a 05 545 yet?

I had earlier asked about 05s and apparently people have them but I don't know about 545s. Why would a car with no apparent engine/emission changes from 04 get held up in VPC? Is this likely to take long - anyone have a guess?

My car arrived in US on 10/6 so I just figured that 10/16 represented a reasonable VPC time not some date that everyone was given.....

I'm pretty sure no 05 545s have been delivered. It is at least somewhat reassuring that more than one of us has been told about the emissions "problem". I agree that the relaese date of 10/16 is dubious- it is probably BMW's way of saying they have no idea or "maybe soon". My car has been in the VPC for three weeks. When my DME recall car was in the VPC for greater than a month everyone was offered $500 off of their price. I may be calling my CA next week to begin "negotiations".

I have posted this in a few other topics with no real response.? My 2005 545 is stuck at the VPC.? It, besides being a recurrent theme with the cars that I order, has been there for 10 days and will remain for a week more.? My CA states that all BMW V8 cars including 6 and 7 series need to have the emmisions certified? for the MY prior to being released.? Does anyone know if this is BS?? Did this happen with MY2004? Are the 05 525 and 530s being delivered without delay? Or am I just paranoid? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

================================================== ===

My 2004 530i just got a BMW emission recall a week ago, (BMW Camaign Number 04E-A02). I believe it might be true on your new 05, but who knows if it is BS or an excuse why your new 2005 545i is not being ready as planned?

(I bet BMW USA gets their check from you on time for delivery, huh, ((BMW got my check on time), LOL, just kidding but seriously it is worth the short wait for your new 05 545i!!!!)
