Hi, Andy. Sorry about that first 60, but I remember the problems that your friend Dennis had with his wheels. Since it has happened before in that same country, I guess the problem was real. That being the case, it looks like they could have told you that up front. At any rate, considering the apology, etc., I do believe I would suck it up and go forward with a good experience ahead of me.

I am supposed to be picking mine up tomorrow. They blew the computer trying to upgrade the software.

Sorry to hear about the computer. I still remember driving your 545i, so I feel
for you!! :'( Good with it as well..!

Thanks for your comments, appreciate it!

andy, no matter who sent you the letter, it all depends on how much you trust them. for some, the letter is 100% valid and explained everything that you need to know. but for the others, it could be completely trash and another "reasonable" excuse. i'll take the car now but let them know at the time that you pick it up. if anything goes wrong with the wheels & tires in the near future, make sure they'll do something for you. as for the compensation, i'm sure all weather mats, red reflectors, or other small things will be ok to ask. good luck and enjoy . please post more pics when you have a chance .

I find it strange, taht they needed a couple of days and complaints to find an explanation... If there was a problem, why didn't they told you immediately when you were wondering about the Km's the first time?
Anyways... take the car. the next time you will get a good treatment, I guess, since they are now alarmed, that they can't tell you BS...
Try to get a pair of BMW sunglasses from them for the trouble...

I concur that the letter is only as valid as the trust you have in the author -- regardless of his title.

If you really wanted to prove or disprove the authenticity of the letter, there should be a paper trail that backs everything up. A key third-party would be the person they spoke with at BMW that advised them to spin the tires on the wheels. If you wanted to pursue things for peace of mind, you could ask to see all the service records and ask for the name and number of the person that gave them the advice.

Or, you could just take the car and have fun.

It's really up to you....

I would ask for all documentation on the problem and the contact name at BMW just in case there is a future problem. Just because it was fixed before delivery doesn't mean it never happened which is what they seem to be doing by not giving you the paper work.

Basically it was fixed under warranty and that should be documented.

I would also ask for a bunch of small stuff in compensation.

I Used to do PDI's (Predelivery Inspections) At a dealership. I remember those pleasurable roadtests I used to take. To be honest with you I don't believe them but that is me. Wish you the best of luck, I sure you car wil be fine.

dw, are you saying you might have violated the break-in recommendations during your PDI test drives?

The fact alone that your dealer felt an unbalance in the wheels is amazing! They changed the tires for you without arguing or whatever??? WTF!!! I'm gonna change dealers ASAP because my dealer gave me the runaround!! My Car will be in soon again and I'll confront them with the fact that other dealers change wheels much faster then they do.
