Just wanted to say thanks for all your replies & comments. Especially to IrishEyes & DaveH. This site has been a great help in making a decision & in finding much more information than the dealers seem to have.

Took a while to decide & in the end went for the 525d SE. Could have gone for the 530d but with less options but having sat in a few tailbacks recently I concluded that the extra comfort might be of more use than the additional performance of the 530d. As for the 520d, when I tested it the performance didn't seem that much better than my existing E39 525d SE and the refinement definitely not as good.

Anyway here's the spec I ordered:

Now I have to wait until 1 June when my changeover is due. Can't wait.
