when im done with my car, ill show you how we do it on the track. i will smoke a zr-1. and ill do it with my top down. the motor means nothing. block doesnt matter. when i finish and i have 800 horse on a worked suspension, brembos sway bars. youll be looking at a 10 second car with a top sped of some where around 220mph. 107,000 is absurd for that car. i do know what im talking about and i have researched the zr-1. all in all, my car will cost half what a zr-1 cost and will out perform it .

Actually, the ZR-1 is bigger than the sum of it's parts. I find it amusing that people will say "well, I'll slap a blower and brakes on my civic and get a 8 second car." Its BS and it sounds like crap you hear in high school.

The ZR-1 set the record at Nurburgring on stock tires and the stock suspension. It beat the Zonda, the Carerra GT, the GT-R, GT2, Veyron, Konigsegg, every Lambo, and every Ferrari on the world standard road course.

Yes, it's that good. Grow a pair and give credit where credit is due. Leave the haters on the rice rocket forums.

Half the kids that claim that, have never completed the 1/4 mile, let alone in 8 secs. If they did try, it probably breaks 1/2 way down the track. Tuning is more than just slapping high HP and big brakes on a car.

I'm over in London this week and I just picked up the latest issue of Top Gear magazine. They drove and reviewed the ZR-1 and liked it a lot - it got 17 out of 20, which is about as good as a review in Top Gear ever gets.

When I talk about the 335i not ever being the M3, I am referring to the whole package, not just horsepower. This is my same argument for the new ZR-1. The 335i can easily be made faster in a straight line than the new M3 for less than $5,000. You can spend $15,000 on a 335i and it will perform with a M3, but it will never be the complete package the M3 is. The ZR-1 is not just a power upgrade. And the LS9 in the ZR-1 is quite different than the LS3. The 6.2-liter block, which is the same physical size as the LS7 in the Z06, had to be substantially strengthened for supercharged duty. Overall, the LS9's block is 20 percent stronger than that of the standard LS3. The LS9's intake valves are made with lightweight titanium and are set in cylinder heads made from high-strength aluminum. It also has new forged-aluminum pistons connected by titanium rods to the steel crankshaft. Not to mention the dry sump oil system. Simply put the LS3 has had major enhancement to deal with the supercharging, to become the LS9. ZR-1 actually has a lot more than carbon ceramic brakes. A further raced tuned independent suspension front and back, acheiving over 1g cornering grip. The suspension is also adjustable. Similar to the M3 electrionic dampening system the ZR-1 has GM's magnetic selective ride control. Although the ZR-1 is a more aggressive sports car than the Z06, it has a more comfortable ride during normal driving. No harsh bumps like the Z06. Not to mention it is the first Corvette that achieves over 200mph from factory. The differences are endless. Overall the ZR-1 is a completely different car than any Corvette.
+1,000,000
I've actually seen one of these in action side by side vs. a Z06. The ZR-1 blows it straight out of the water, and it is truly much more car than the Z06 can be. You can't just add parts to make it equal. You have to do a LOT of work to make all of the improvements work together and pass through a 100K mile durability. Good luck doing that with a modded up base C6...

I agree that it deserves respect, but honestly, it takes a car enthusiast to know its anything more than $50k garden variety C6 stock Vette. Granted, its performance numbers are off the charts, but to most of the world, it looks the same as a garden variety Vette. I just wish it was more distinctive.

You mean like how, say, the M5 is so much more distinctive than a 550i Sport to the disinterested? I get drivers all the time run up on me on the freeway then back off to my quarter panels to read the badge, thinking it might be an M5. I'm sure plenty others w/ an '08 550i Sport get the same thing. My point being, the M5 is not significantly different looking from any other 5-series, yet significantly more expensive comparably equipped. But the owner still bought it because (to him/her) it's much more than the sum of its parts.

Points to ponder...
