Jonboy,
The ?3k deposit is only the start of it. When you finalise your spec you have to increase your deposit to 10% of the purchase price so I'm looking at a ?6.5k deposit which is non-refundable! Porsche GB get the benefit of interest on your money for the 12 month waiting period. It's a first class scam on their part. The only saving grace I guess is that if you have to back out for any reason there will be no problem selling on your build slot to someone who is either able, or wants, to jump the queue this time next year.
997 vs 545i is a no brainer for me if you don't have to worry about transporting a family around with you. Get the Porsche, I am.
