Just thought I'd give an update on where I'm at trading in the E60. I narrowly missed out on a great spec ex demo Porsche Cayenne 3.2 V6 over the weekend. I hadn't really considered one of these until I visited the Porsche dealer on Saturday to try and have a sneak peak at the new 997 before launch night. After suffering insults for driving an alledgedly "ugly" car in the early days of E60 ownership I thought I might as well go the whole hog and get a Cayenne which I actually like. Ah well it obviously wasn't meant to be. Some lucky person is going to be very happy with the car I was after.

Having procrastinated for long enough I have finally ordered an X5 3.0i Sport in Estoril blue with black exclusive nappa leather, steptronic, poplar smoke grey trim, comms pack incl tv and bluetooth functions, voice control, panoramic glass sunroof, aluminium running boards, auto dim & folding ext mirrors, 6 disc CD, hi-fi speaker system, bi-xenons, grad tint screen, floor mats, and sun protection privacy glass. I'm trying to get the dealer to do me a deal on the 20" 7 spoke alloys and front and rear bumper covers from the 4.8is. All being well I should get it for early November.

Whilst at the dealer I saw a gorgeous E61 530d Touring in the showroom. It was mystic blue with beige leather and style 124 18" alloys. It looked fantastic IMHO.

How about an SL55, or is that a dirty word here? If BMW doesn't sort my problems out, that'll be my next ride

Ok I own a Boxster and a 911 C2 2002, Speed Yellow with PSM and Sports Exahust. The 5 is much more of a comfortable/performance car. I spent more time in my Bimmer than in my Porsche. The 997 is a great car but the M5 seats four, has a trunk and is comfortable. When I go on my Porsche club drives after 4 hour trips I park the car and don't drive it for weeks....it is uncomfortablle and rough.

On a Status Symbol note - 911 takes the cake - my speed yeloow 911 with Rear Factory tail gets more attention than any car I have ever owned.......I do get a high driving it but as a daily driver ......the Bimmer takes the cake
I'm with you, I sold my Porsche (98 Red 911 cab.) for the 545 I drive now, while the Porsche got great looks the 5er is a much better ride, and frankly a better preformer too. good luck , I think everyone needs to own a Porsche at one point in thier life.
