One quetion? Do Mazada last (reliable)? I've heard horror stories from Mazada owner.
Given competition, most makes are generally reliable these days. Mazda mechanicals should be good and be better than the components in the Ford crossover. Ford goes with the cheaper components.

Take a look at the CX-9 on Edmunds and the full review of its little brother CX-7.

Crossover Advantages
1) Fold down seats/greater vertical height in terms of room. (More volume)
2) Third row seating
3) Loading Access
4) More comfortable for younger humans and dogs (long trips a plus)
5) MPG and handling are quite good for such a roomy vehicle
6) Price $37K for a well equiped CX-9
Yes you have a point here, and I understand why people are tempted with crossovers...it is a trend now,
But still.
But to your arguments.
1) I have a folding seats in wagon, and load space when seats folded is somethin like 1700 litres, and it is a Lot!
2) That is advantage with crossovers, but with seven seats you can have luggage as much as in mini cooper
3) that point i dont get
4) this neither, I have 4 big dogs - and last summer we drove 6000 km a cross Europe. 2 dogs in boot and 2 dogs in back seat, and No problems...
5) okay this point is a personal opinion
6) yes there is crossovers also with competitive prices...

And btw I am thinking to by a some kind of a crossover for second car, but only because I want 4wd, for those extreme weather conditions in winter...

I just dont undertand why many people in USA lame wagons as a second class cars or something..propably it is because you
have a terrible history with some GM wagon products. Here in Europe people really like touring or avanti cars of top end brands, and
not to carry bricks or concrete, but for baby strollers, dogs, bikes, fishing equipment hunting eq etc..

all the best...

Thank you, both, for some thoughtful input. While my personal preference may not be a wagon (and yes in part because of GM and Ford issues) the crossovers are a trend offering sporty looks, high levels of cars and not trucks, and are good with MPG.

But this is my father, and I will tell him to look at the Mazada brand too. This car/wagon will be 85% time used for going long distance fishing. Not many wagons are available in the US anymore. Again, thanks for the differing point of views.
