The LS460 is a fantastic car. It handles much better than some on here are crediting, and it is a top drawer luxury car.

It is not a car I would mod, its one to keep stock. The engineering and build quality are fabulous, and the electronics better those from BMW.

An awesome used car. If you get a good price, the 2009 LS would be a phenomenal car to own. All the other cars mentioned here (Infiniti M, E Class etc) are from the class below, the 5 Series segment. The LS competes with the 7 and S Class (and in the US, it outsells both, globally it is the second best selling car in the segment behind the S Class). I'd take an 09 LS over a new M45, E350 or E60.

For $60K, I would personally get a Benz S-class.
IMO, Lexus is for people in their late 50's and up.

Apparently wind noise is an issue with that car. It's for all years of that model as it is a design flaw. I would test drive and pay particular attention to that, it might bug the bananas out of you in the long run.

Yes, cross winds is the problem and Lexus is not admitting anything. I've driven it several times before and for good but unknown reasons, this car does not suffer from wind noise even at 90 mph and windy day. My 5 er experienced a wind noise (whistle) at 120 mph, but that was due to a windshield glueing which fixed itself through aging.

As for handling, it does well for cruising, but the steering feels much softer then my bro's S500.

My father is not in need of selling, but since we were looking for a another car, he offered his. Should I take it off his hands for $60K or wait for something else? I can't get a S class or a 7 er (new style) at that price right now. So the decision is part "want" and part "good deal."

The comment about age is exactly what my wife said, too. Hence, I would like to mod it to at less look a little more sportier with minor body kits (ones that look more integrated and subtle) and rims. Let me know if you have links to "tastefully done" LS460.

Thanks everyone, for your inputs.

The average age of the S Class buyer isn't markedly different to that of the LS... Also, re wind noise, Lexus engines are much more refined and quieter than those in the 7 Series and S Class. As a consequence, other noises, such as airflow around the windshield, can tend to take on greater prominence. Either way, as 09 this car should already have some of the fixes that supposedly reduce the issue.
