i've seen a few of these on the streets and i can't say i'm a fan of the styling.
i'd only be interested in the cts-v version.

Hey all,
I've been seeing alot of these on TV as well and more then a few on the road here in Minnesota / St. Paul area.
I guess my plan is to just goto a Caddy dealer and check one out for a day and see how it goes.
Most dealerships here will let you take the car for the day and return it the next if they feel you are a perspective buyer.
So, having said that, I will post my opinion in a few days when I get back from vacation.
Going to Cali and enjoying some sun.

See you guys soon.

I wanted to buy a CTS-V a few years ago but thanks to my wife (who wouldn't even go to the Caddy dealer) talked me into a new 330i instead. I Still would like to drive both the CTS-V and STS-V

If you're comparing the CTS to the 550, I think you'd miss the V8.

I keep seeing all the CTS commercials and have done a little research, and it does not look to bad. Here is a list of Pros and Cons that I have come up with, any thoughts???

Pros:

Price - $45,000 vs. $75,000
Pop-up Nav - I really like this on MB and the CTS
Ergonomics

Cons:

Hp - 304 vs. 360
Tq - 273 vs. 360
0-60 - 6.5 vs. 5.1
And everyone will know you could not afford $75K car

This is harsh.

My two cents. I just traded in my 2000 328i for a 2005 545i, so I'm a BMW guy. My wife has a lease on a 2006 CTS. My brother in law had the new 08 over the summer as his perk car. I got to know it a bit.

I look at BMWs as a car to own and GMs as a car to lease. If you lease a new BMW, your are really pouring out a ton of cash, so the 08 CTS is well worth a look. A lease is a car you don't want long term. A BMW is car you want long term, so I see this as a conflict. Either car is covered under warranty for a lease, so thats a wash.

The 08 CTS has a great ride. If you are into electronics, its just the bomb. The pop up NAV and internal music storage is just a great feature. The trans is very nice, GM even make some transmissions for BMW.

If you are a cash buyer, and plan to own for over 5 years, the cost of the BMW goes WAY down. I'm laughing at how cheap owning my 2000 328i was for 8.5 years. I could have got out of it any time in year 4-8 for the same basic cost per month (around $300). If I had time to sell it myself, it woudl have been even better.

Service is another issue long term. At about 8 years or so and 62k miles, my 328i just lost is great feel. I had 2 alignments this year with an open check book to make it perfect. The second alignment came back worse than the original. I just gave up and traded it for the 545i. Maybe a better mechanic could get it back, but I see 8 years as the mark to ditch a BMW.

When the CTS lease is up next December, I may bump the 545i to my wife, then take a new CTS lease then. Its all good - seriously.

On a side issue that I only seem to care about, the 545i gets over 30 on the highways at 70MPH. The 06 CTS get closer to 25. I tell my brother in law all the time that they need to get this over 30. They are HP possessed at GM though. He says my concerns are not typical. The 08 gets a nice bump on the highways, with more HP. Closer to 30, but not quite. I want it all. Hopefully they will add displacement on demand on every car soon.

Ok, I've been driven a lot of US cars the recent years since I've been a lot to the US. And to me the CTS doesn't perform very well. I like the 300C better, and I don't even like it...
