I keep seeing all the CTS commercials and have done a little research, and it does not look to bad. Here is a list of Pros and Cons that I have come up with, any thoughts???

Pros:

Price - $45,000 vs. $75,000
Pop-up Nav - I really like this on MB and the CTS
Ergonomics

Cons:

Hp - 304 vs. 360
Tq - 273 vs. 360
0-60 - 6.5 vs. 5.1

The CTS is a smaller vehicle and is not comparable to the E60. They should be in the same class with the E90, A4, C-Class.....

I used to have the same opinion but upon further review, this is what I found:

Length Width
CTS - 191.6 x 72.5
550i - 191.1 x 72.7

From what I heard, GM placed the CTS between the e90 and e60 and the STS between the e60 and e65.

I'm not sure about the new CTS, but I got my CTS brand new in 2005, got 2 factory recalls, took it in and same problem happen 2 weeks ago. I've lost faith after that, and that's why I switch to BMW, my caddy just sits in the garage Just my opinion, especially that's the first year of redesign.

I've seen (not driven) one in person. I like the look a lot. It is definately smaller on the inside than the 5er (but bigger than the 3er). Overall, I give Caddy credit for coming so far so fast, but they've got a way to go yet to meet the overall driving experience of a BMW. Now, the CTS-v with +500hp could be interesting . . .

I can't believe I am defending an American car, but the E60 doesn't exactly have the best track record either. I know that from personal experience and reading numerous posts.

Motor Trend said the new CTS is the best Cadillac ever built, don't know if thats saying much.

I've driven the new CTS twice in the last 4 weeks (as a rental car) - and I am very impressed with this car. It's clear that this thing was developed on the Nurburgring - the ride and handling are superb. No, it isn't quite up to BMW standards ... but the gap has narrowed considerably, and it's right there with MB and Audi. Yes, really.

The exterior is about the size of the E60 - and it looks great. The interior is a smidge bigger than a 3 series in size ... and the fit, finish, and quality of materials is as good as you will find in any car of this class ... maybe just falling short of Audi. The driving position is outstanding, and it proved effortless to haul ass for 3+ hours. My only complaint is that the center console creeps into the driver's leg-well so far that your right knee/shin always rests against it, and it's bothersome after only a short while.

The CTS has some neat tricks too. For example, it has a 3-blinker turn-signal soft-detent that's easier to use than on the E60. And not only does it have a USB audio connection, but it includes a 40GB hard drive.

The V6 is nicely powerful (I'm sure my rental cars were the 258HP version - not the 304HP direct injection option), and it sounds very good. And while the tranny was fine (Sport Mode!), it still has that familiar GM whine - which is irritating after a while.

Even with the CTS being the size of a 5 series at the price of a 3 series - and solid performance all around - I would still buy an E90 over the CTS, but I could hardly fault anyone that picks the CTS.

This ain't your grandmother's Cadillac. The 2008 CTS certainly has to be the best driving American sedan ever built.

And as Hinckley said, the CTS-V is going to be a very interesting machine!
