2006 Infiniti M45 in my garage!
While the Maxima is a decent car, it shares nothing with the M45. The Maxima is a front wheel drive car. The Infiniti M uses Nissan's FM platform which is the framework for the Nissan 350Z, Infiniti G35 and the Infiniti Fx.

My wife has a 2004 Orient Blue 530i that she absolutely loves to drive.? I enjoy driving it quite a bit as well.? But I'm a power junkie and the M45 gave me more bang for the buck than a 545i.? If money was not an issue, I would have gotten the 545i in a heartbeat.? There is something hard to describe about the overall quality of the BMW versus the Infifniti.? Infiniti has come a long way, but the feel of the BMW is just more solid.? It just isn't $10,000 more solid!

Congratulations, my buddy is trying to decide between the two right now. Money IS no object to him, but he is still struggling with the two cars. He will probably wait for the 550 just to force me to spend unnecessary cash. I bust his balls and tell him the reason he likes the M45 is because he is so old (he just had his 50th so he is struggling with it). He brought one home from the dealership and I got to take it for a ride, and I will concede that they have the electrical bugs worked out. (mp3, RDS, Sat/Nav, camera that starts with the engine not a 30 second wait, etc). That part is much better than the 545i. And I like the fit/finish. Congrats on your new ride, they are always fun, but remember after your break-in period if you ever pull up next to a 545i, do NOT run with him, you just might wish you had paid $10 grand more.
Since it was on dealer loan, he didn't care about the break in and we went at it, it sure looks nice in the rear view mirror

me likes! ... get some shots of the interior please
enjoy.

enjoy.
The M45 is a great car. I test drove one a few weeks ago with the sports package, and so far, it's the closest car I've driven to the 545. Almost as much acelleration, almost as tight handling, and the automatic downshifts with rev-matching are cool. Bottom line is it's almost as nice a driving experience, but still not up there with the 545.
However, it has better reliability, more features, and of course, costs $10,000 less. Nice choice.
