[/quote]They did an hour episode of "Rides" on Discovery HD featuring the genesis of this car. Chip Foose built this car - transplanted a 4.3L V8 from a GS430 (I think an old Supra manual trans) and put it into the IS seen here. He also designed the graphics. Completely working "finished" car.
It was a proof of concept - to prove to the higher-ups that Lexus should consider building such a car. Lexus did not build it though.

Yea but why does it matter? because when you come to a corner, you'll definately see that IS350 in your rear view mirror as it can't even beat the 330i with almost 50 horses less on a track! so i guess Lexus is turning into another MB with hotrods for stop lights, not bad though.

Just received the latest issue of Car & Driver, they road tested the E90 330i and Lexus IS350. The 330i was voted #1 though.
IS 350 6spd auto w/paddles stats
0 to 60mph / 5.1 seconds
0 to 100mph / 12.8 seconds
0 to 120mph / 20.0 seconds
1/4 mile /13.7@104mph
Looks like it'll be close one at a stoplight.
Where's my 550i?

You would have to drive your Z06 then or slip in a supercharger. Now, that would be a "sleeper" 5 series.

I haven't driven the new IS350, but every Lexus I've driven (including the new GS) drives like a sofa. No road feel, too much sway, too "cushy."

Ok, now Road & Track is saying the IS350 will do 0 to 60mph in 6.0 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 14.5 seconds @ 98.6 mph?
