I know there are better products out there. Unfortunately for the time being I need to use the Treo since I use that for opening lock boxes for real estate.
How does that work? Is there some Palm application that you run or is there some sort of SMS or email message sent? (Just curious, I won't try to break into any houses...)

There is a software application that runs on Palm based devices called eKey made by a company called Supra. Earlier this year Pittsburgh changed over all of the lock boxes to newer models that use IR technology. The agent enters their code and points the Palm device at the lockbox to open the key case. The agent has to update their device each day, usually overnight in order to continue to unlock the lock boxes. They are permitted to manually enter an update code only once if for some reason the update did not take place. With the Treo you can do the updating wirelessly any time you need to as well as get the current inventory of homes for sale (a marketing area that the agent sets up in advance). Early next year we will be able to get real time MLS data wirelessly as well.

Cool. Thanks for the explanation -- I always wondered how they managed to keep those lockboxes straight...

I saw these two threads on Treocentral today and they reminded me of this thread.

Caller ID Problem w/Bluetooth

Car Kits and Wrong Caller ID

Looks like the Treo 700P has the wrong caller ID problem with other devices and cars as well. No timing for a fix was indicated.

I recently purchased the treo 700p for my 550 and Im getting the same problem... it shows me the previous caller ID. Has there been any word from Palm or BMW on this issue?

Wow, same thing happened to me. Just got a Verizon TREO 700P tuesday, and noticed the exact same thing. Correct caller ID shows up on phone, but in IDrive, prior caller ID?

Phone seems to work normally with bluetooth, pairs perfectly, phonebook from favorites loads. Weirdly, it does give me the roam triangle indicator when the phone first pairs, but goes out if I move up to communication mode in IDrive, and I know I'm not roaming.

I was using a Motorola V710, where these issues never ocurred.

What gives???? Any suggestions?
The Treo and many handsets are being used with third party backup programs, like Active Synch or VZ Backup. Those programs can reset the archive bit on the contact, and not let it allow the BT synch to recognize it as a new contact edit. I have seen this in the phone forums. Try to delete the phone profile and re-pair to the car again.

If you use another way to synch contacts, this could apply.

This also happened to me in my 335i just the other day. A friend of mine in buffalo called me and it showed a 718 number (new york city area code) I was like "since when did you move to brooklyn?", he replied "I didn't move to brooklyn" and you know the rest of the story he taught I was a damn moron for the 1st 5 minutes of the conversation and lo and behold looking at my blackberry his number showed up with the the Buffalo area code. I haven't been able to pair my BB with my car for the last 2 days so I can't say whether the issue still exist or not.

VZ Backup Assistant will cause this for sure, as well as the other Treo synch software. Look up your model at www.howardforums.com
