[quote name='CTYankee' date='Aug 26 2005, 08:46 PM']Once it asks if you want to connect, select "add device" and press controller.
Enter a code--any number up to 16 digits.
Enter same code on your phone
You will see your phone listed on the screen
Phone will ask if you want to accept connection
Press yes and exit idrive menu
Turn ignition off
Turn ignition on.? Phone will be connected and will transfer phonebook entries to the car--this could take some time depending on how many entries in your phonebook.
Good luck--worked like a charm for me

I'm sort of having the same problem with my Nokia N-GAGE. However, it is not the phone that I'm having trouble with, but the iDrive itself. I don't know, or it doesn't show me where to put in a passcode once my phone finds BMWXXXXX and is ready for a passcode. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even ask to connect, and select "add device".
Could this be because my car has an older CIP? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for all the replies, really... Anyways I got it to work by entering 0000 for the passcode and everything else worked fine.
