I just got off the phone with BMW Cust service. I was told the bluetooth kits are out and do work in 5's without BMW Assist. What if we have the BMW Assist, can we just have the dealer deactivate the BMW assist, and then have a Bluetooth phone working? I have asked them and am waiting to hear back.

It?s a good idea. I would rather have the phone working than the BMW assist.
I was told that the blue tooth/BMW assist problem was solved and it was up to BMW to finally release the hardware to the public.

I already got my blue tooth in my car - I have a NOkia 6600 model and I wear my bluetooth ear piece in the car. There you go - no need for BMW to install bluetooth phone.
