I just bought a 2003 530d SE with Sat Nav.

The bluetooth functionality works fine with my Sony Ericsson K608i.

I am pleased because it is an excellent handset and I didn't want to have to replace it to get the car phone working.

I paired the devices, turned the car off and on again, and the phone book automatically transferred.

You can get in the car with the phone in your pocket and drive. An incoming call will silence the radio and you can accept it from the steering wheel button. The callers name is displayed on the iDrive Display.

Outbound calls also work perfectly.

The in-car phone book has created multiple records for contacts where I have more than one phone number against them in the phone.

Sound qualitry is excellent.

The SE K608i is essentially the same as the SE K600, so I think it is almost certain that this phone will work too.

I am not sure if the phone will fit into the BMW Sony Ericsson cradle, but I intend to buy one and find out - will keep you posted.

PS - I love my new Beemer!

It is a 3G phone in the UK too. It is a 3G phone anywhere.

I don't think they have 3G in the US (?)

I am not sure what you mean "If I brought US bluetooth system would it work"

I think he meant a BTUM=(bluetooth upgrade module), since cars prior to 0404 don?t have "real" Bluetooth.

Do you know if your car has a BTUM, or replaced TCU to a newer one with "real" Bluetooth?

I just know that bluetooth was specified a factory fit option when the car was ordered new. This was in September 2003.

Hi

Thank you all for your help. As I understand it the car has all the wiring but no modules. Do you know what I
would need to get it up and running. Also what was meant by (real) Bluetooth. Do you know where i can buy the parts.
