Is there any way of turning off the type of number in the k750i address book e.g. Mobile, Home etc.
This seems to be added to the name in the cars phone book. When using voice control in the car it adds this to the end of the name which is really anoying and sometimes creates a problem.

Has anyone been able to get rid of this?

I have the same problem, and I think it effects the reliability of the voice dialling. Let me know if you figure out how to get rid of it.

I don't think this is a real problem - nothing we can't live with.

The feature for mobile phones to be able to hold multiple phone numbers against single contacts was introduced in about 2002 I think (I remember the SE T68i being the first phone I saw which did it).

It seems that the BMW iDrive phonebook does not support this feature.

So instead it creates a new record for each phone number, and distinguishes between them by adding 'mobile' or 'home' or similar (whatever you have used in your phone).

Just think - if the BMW did support this feature then when you selected a contact you would then have to select which of their numbers you wanted to dial: eg. 1. Johnny, 2. Mobile (or Home or whatever).

At least this way you just pick the record you want and dial.

Not sure how this affects voice control when you can assign any voice name you want to any number description ?

Ian.

I am not sure if its extended voice or Pro-Nav, but bluetooth phone prep behaves differently. With the version you have you record a name and then the number assigned against it. With the Extended voice it interprets anything in your phones address book. The option to record a voice name and number doesnt exist.

True its not a big issue, but if you only have one number against each contact, BMW still adds the (M)(H)(W) suffix and expects you to say this when voice dialling. So if calling "Office", we have to say "Office H". Its not a showstopper but its a little irritating. I agree that if two or more numbers exist for one entry then it should add the suffix.
