I've tested a Cingular 6230 with a 2005 525i and it sync'd up perfectly. Now, once I can be sure I can get the 6230 cradle, I'll dump by POS CPT9000 and flip over to BT...

I just learned that Cingular in the US has discontinued using 6230 phones because of a bunch of problems they were having with units locking up, etc.

I have one now and it seems to work fine for me but it's a Cingular "orange" phone unlocked and using a "blue" SIM -- not sure if that makes any difference...

Shaaazaaaam!

Mine arrived today. And guess what...

It even works with a standard NOKIA 6230 - with older software on. It charges, the aerial indication goes to full power when plugged in (I tested it!) and the BT works OK!

I have been using this phone with the BT for the past 2 months - but good to see I can use the 6230i on order for my good lady!

Yeeeee har.
OK i also have a nokia 6230, so i can order the cradle from the 6230i and it will work? btw maybe i don't understand you well, but do you need the old softwarte on the phone or is new also ok?
I hope it's available also here in the Netherlands.....

I can confirm that both 6230 and 6230i will fit in the cradle, if that's what you ask. Charging works for both types.

Also, both phones work with the E60 (I have an '05), I know from a colleague that the 6230i also works on his '04 car.

Yep! I gave the dealer this number and they ordered it.

At that time they weren't aware of a cradle for this phone. I had to convince them to just order this part number. I must say "it's the best phone I've tried with the E60"!

Tot ziens!

I use a 6230i and my other-half has my old 6230.
Both work equally well in the cradle and both synch up on the BT connection.
The BT heirachy also works well (her's is in second spot) and so when she takes
the car and I'm not around her phone assumes top slot and synch's right in
seamlessly - then when I get the car back my 6230i assumes pole position.
This really is a cool feature, and works better than I expected.

Sorry for the delay - but yes - EVEN WITH OLD SOFTWARE I have had no problems with my 6230.

Enjoy!

My 6230 sync'd fine with the car - but couldn't use the address book. I then upgraded to the 6230i and this displays the default phone numbers in my phone book.
