After my 2nd V3i broke down, i faced the usual cellphone choice dilemma added with the need to pair with my car. Took the chance with MotoRAZR V8 and glad to report it works as good as the V3i. My 530i is April 2006 model with iDrive software upgraded to E060-07-03-525 version.
The pairing was like a breeze, it's the transfer of phonebook from the old V3i to V8 that was harder! Some contacts gone missing when I transferred the backup data stored in Outlook Express using Moto Phone Tools software.
Hope this info help some of you who're deciding what cellphone to get.

My Motorola V-6 MAXX transfers 160+ contacts and voice dialing is easily accomplished except multiple numbers for same contact can be perplexing.
I have a 530xi ... I guess if I had a 550 I should get a Motorola V-8 to match

No. Once the pairing is successful, the phonebook is there. Do you manage to pair the V8 to the car?
