I have the Motorola V600 with Cingular and it works fine with BMW Bluetooth. Audio quality for other party sounds like I have a speakerphone which I do in essence. I am getting the new Motorola RAZR V3 which although not tested is said to have same BT chipset as the V600. Attached is a BMW document listing phones.

Exact same report I got on quality (sounds like a speakerphone). Probably the best we can expect for now. But it does make you wonder - why does it have to sound that way. Wouldn't a directional mike sound pretty close to a headset? The headset mike is not right at your mouth either (although closer).

Is anyone able to easily switch to a headset for longer conversations (or if someone complains)?

Contact your local BMW Parts Department for what is available. What about future cradles? You don't know. One can only guess.

Even though my dealership ordered a cradle for my V600, I will likely take a pass on that. According to Cingular, the new Motorola RAZR V3 will have a price break shortly, possibly on Wednesday of this week. I am definitely going to get that phone after the price break. Then I will see if I can get a dealer installed plug connection for power and access to the shark fin antenna. I will just use the existing tray until a cradle for it comes out. Motorola has a longstanding relationship with BMW. I think, and I am guesing, that a cradle for the RAZR will forthcoming from BMW. At some point I would assume that BMW will make adjustable cradles and plug adapters, as a kind of a one size fits all approach. The Motorola RAZR has gotten great reviews by knowledgeable phone enthusiasts. Go to phonescoop.com. The only criticism has been the high price, but the price will come down.

By the way Motor Werks is looking into how my e60 can be retrofit with BMW Sirius so that it will work with the nav, I-drive, and the shark fin antenna. What they are doing is not officially sanctioned by BMW and may not work at a reasonable price. If anybody can do it, Motor Werks can. They have one of the best service departments in the US. They are awesome.
