Thumbs up

I'd like to know just how many people have the built-in cell phone or added it themselves!
There have been a lot of discussions about adding it. It is excessively expensive IMO. I want to recover the console space the phone carrier consumes. We are all suffering from a shortage of storage space and since the phone is an option, there should be a special storage space in the console if a phone isn't ordered.
I am curious to learn how many of us are made to suffer this design blunder. I don't know how to initiate a poll, but I think this is a useful one to make. It is too late to do any good for most of us, but it needs to be corrected in the future IMO.

i don't have a car phone but i have my cell phone all the time, even in the bathroom ! i have a motorola v80 w/bluetooth headset. so i don't think i need a car phone. i used to put my phone in the slot on the armrest in the e39 but i have no place for my phone now . i can't put it under the cd player (don't have nav system) slot because the phone will fly out pretty easy if i accelerate or brake a little harder <_<.

i kind of remember the gap is pretty wide. i don't want my phone slide underneath my seat . i just have it in my pocket and use the headset a lot more than before <_<.

I have the BMW Motorola phone. Works fine. The voice dialing is very convenient and makes the installation truly "hands free".

I have the motorola V60i installed. I rarely remove the phone from the cradle anymore. Hands free dialing, and i-drive for the phonebook is great. The occasional glitch can be annoying, but all in all I'm a fan.

I have both avenues covered. I have a phone on my belt at all times but I also have the CPT9000 (BMW v60i) installed in the car.

I never remove the v60 from the car. It worked 10% of the time with version 11.x but now works 90% of the time with version 12.2.

It would have been nice to use Bluetooth but I didn't want to gamble and wait to see if MY2004 was ever going to get it.

I had my dealer remove the phone cradle in the center armrest. There's really a lot of storage space without it.

On the phone front, I just got the new Motorola 710 with a wireless bluetooth headset. I leave the phone in the door pocket and just use the headset. It is totally voice activated and works almost flawlessly.

Although I had really wanted the BMW bluetooth system, what I've got works pretty well. I'm now not sure I'll spring for a retro kit if one is ever available.
