Where in Cali are you located? If your car was pre-wired for BT, a TCU replacement and coding would be required. If not, a few more parts would be needed. I thought all US-spec E60's were pre-wired, but I may be mistaken. Mine is an 09/2003 build. I replace my old TCU with a 2007. With a lil coding, I was able to use BT, with a few caveats - no voice dialing, and no phonebook transfers. When I retrofitted CCC Nav, the phone book worked.
If you want USB, you'll have to upgrade to the CIC system - a fairly pricy endeavor. Also, bluetooth will only use the phone profile. No piping in music via BT. The AUX port simply requires wiring up to the head unit, and coding to enable.
