After nearly five months of ownership, I'm close to figuring out all the operating features on the car. I've got a couple to master, such as skipping messages on my bluetooth phone.

Can numbers be entered in Idrive during a bluetooth call, where they are recognized by the phone? I've tried and failed. This is where I-drive can be dangerous, as it tempts you to go further thru the menu while driving.

Do you want to make a call? Yes. Did not understand your command. Please select from options? Argh, Communications! Destination Map on. F@#$ you!!!! Voice Entry Ended.

I've had this conversation quite a few times. I am not sure I understand your question though. But, if I do, you are way more advanced than I am in trying to use the phone. I suspect that most mortals cannot enter another number via voice command, while having a "Blue Tooth conversaton." My only reason for thinking not is that doing so would require a pretty sophisitcated system, and the combination of Blue Tooth and Voice Command, IMO, is not overly sophisticated.

hi there,

Say your listening to your voicemail in the car and your bluetooth phone is deep in your pocket. You want to skip a message, so you'd like to find some way to press a single number (corresponding to skip feature on the mobile) thru the Idrive. Can this be done? I know the new S class has the armrest located keypad integrated with its NAV, possibly for this use.

Just press the controller down while on the current call (press down while the "active call" is highlighted). From there, you'll see an option to end the call and another option called "keypad." Select "keypad" and dial away...
