My Ride: Two 2005 BMW 530i's: 1 Alpine, 1 Sapphire - Auburn Interior - Cold weather pkg - Premium pkg - GPS/NAV - 6-Disc CD changer - Rear Sun Shades - Adaptive headlamps - Park Distance Control - Bluetooth enabled (T637 phone)
Default

Cheers all!

This is for the individuals who have followed my previous posts re: Sony Ericsson Bluetooth phone compatibility with 2005 model year E60's.

I won't re-hash all the phone compatibility details. However as a "reminder" the below applies ONLY to Sony Ericsson T637, T610, T615 & T630 phones - ALL of which are "approved" by BMW and pair FLAWLESSLY with BMW Bluetooth equipped E60's.

Note: This IS the definitive word - don't let your dealers/parts guy tell you different. The below parts are not only required to fit your (Sony Ericsson) phone into the E60, they also fit PERFECTLY and can be installed in LESS than 60min. (possible less than 30min by a "pro")

BMW parts needed for Sony Ericsson phone:
- Adapter: part #84210304298
- Eject Box: part #84216946075
- Support: part #51167060175

These three parts together REPLACE the "coin tray" inside the center arm rest of the E60. The parts (snapped together as one unit) allow the driver to secure a Sony Ericsson phone and have it charge while in the car and utilize the vehicles phone antenna.

I followed the below link posted on the E60.net forums by "mrbelk". A HUGE thanks to mrbelk for his descriptive install instructions & pictures. Note: mrbelks pix & instructions outline install for CPT 9000 phone - it is EXACTLY the same for Sony Ericsson Bluetooth phones.

Another big cheers to "Gary" of Stevens Creek BMW in San Jose, CA - Gary did all the leg work, obtained the parts and did so WITHOUT making me pay for them first.

Cheers and good luck to those who wish to use the Bluetooth function!

Before I go off and order my remaining parts (adapter in hand) I checked the 10/04 parts list for both the 5 and 5 series eject box. They had 84 11 6 946 537, the same number mrbelk used. Is your number an updated (newer) number for 05 models only?

I tried this....same part numbers. It did NOT work on an 2004 530i. US Spec. After the install of the center console parts I connected the antenna in the trunk to the sharkfin lead. (very easy). The phone did use the shark fin but did NOT charge. BTW yes I did connect the two leads under rear of the center console. I used a volt meter and there was a 12v charge coming in from the base plate but it was supplying the wrong leads on the T610 snap-in. I verified that the snap-in was working and it was. It was reducing the input voltage to the proper charge amount. I know this is a bit techy but the supply posts from the base plate do not correspond to the teminals on the snap-in. I think in the 2005 it may be different and that is why it works. I traded in my 530 on Monday and now have a 2005 545i. I plan to try the hook-up again in my 05. I will be doing it this weekend and will post my results. I think this will help determine if there is an issue with the 2004 US spec cars using these parts. Whew....that was a long explanation.

No, not too long. Good explaination, thanks. Are you simply taking the parts out of the 04 530 and trying in the 05 545 or new parts?

In addition to MrBelk's awesome photos, you can find the TIS step-by-step instructions on how to install the eject box beginning with this post:

So I have a box inside the armrest already...is this the eject box? Do I just need the adapter? I have a T637...will it fit the adapter perfectly? I had heard that some were using the one for the T610 or something, but that it popped out on occasion and wasn't the ideal solution. Any word on whether this will work for 2004?

Thanks
