Cingular is a cell phone network in the the US.

By the way, what does the cradle do with a Bluetooth phone? Does it provide power so that the phone can be charged? Does it connect the phone to the shark fin antenna?

My understanding is that the cradle does both of the things you think and nothing more. It does mean you get better reception though.

The document re: compatible phone mentions sms not supported for v600. Does this mean other phones are cpmpatible with SMS ?

K700i - After reading reports that it works I bought one. Great phone, but sadly didn't work. I have a theory that it is largely down to the firmware installed by the network operator. Vodafone firmware doesn't work.

Se T610 definitely works. But, it's a crappy old phone. I detest it with all my being. The ONLY good thing about it is that it works with BMW bluetooth. Well, when I say 'works' the quality is still appalling, but I think that's down to BMW, not the handset.

Not sure the Siemens S65 is listed as compatible.

My dealer told me last week that the cradle is available for the S65, but it's not listed on the BMW website because that's far too easy. The BMW website is so out of date it's ridiculous, if you follow the links for 5 series accessories it shows the E39 accessories....

Did you return to the car? The instructions indicate that maybe the address takes some time and transfers in the first session after the initial pairing. Which means you have to turn off the car and restart it.
